Inside Line Promotions – WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa (Oct. 1, 2020) – Scott Bogucki has high hopes entering the 33rd annual COMP Cams Short Track Nationals presented by Hoosier Tires.
The SawBlade.com sponsored driver has shown speed at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., during his handful of career starts. However, fortune has yet to smile on the Australian. This Friday and Saturday present the next opportunity during the penultimate Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour event of the season.
“Luck will come into it,” he said. “We’ve always had really good speed there, but haven’t been able to put all of the pieces together. I’m hoping to change that.
“To be successful you have to overtake cars every time you’re on the race track, which can be difficult if you get a loaded heat race. You hope the draw works out in your favor.”
Bogucki’s career-best finish during the Short Track Nationals came last year when he placed 17th on the final night. That also marks his career-best result at the oval.
“We were running sixth and an oil filter came loose and pumped oil all over me,” he said. “We had a really good race car. I was waiting to burn some fuel off to move around more, but we didn’t get the chance.”
Bogucki raced in the Fall Haul last Saturday at 34 Raceway. He charged from eighth to second place in his Sprint Invaders heat race to make the dash. Bogucki won the dash and pulled the No. 2 to garner the second starting position for the A Main.
“We had a lot of speed,” he said. “I made a mistake in the feature and spun out. I just missed the bottom and got in the middle. I couldn’t save it in time. That was all my fault. That put us at the tail. We ran up to sixth at one point before we ended up eighth from 24th.”
