Inside Line Promotions – LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Oct. 26, 2021) – Misfortune hampered Scott Bogucki last weekend during the 34th annual COMP Cams Short Track Nationals presented by Hoosier Tires.

The sponsored driver was fast from the first time he hit the track at I-30 Speedway, which hosted the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour event. Unfortunately, luck wasn’t on his side.

Bogucki qualified second quickest in his group to open Friday’s action. He was running inside a lock-in position during a heat race when an incident that began on a restart culminated in a flip going into turn one. The crash ended his night early.

“Something broke and sent me into the fence hard,” he said. “That broke a lot of stuff. I knew when I couldn’t steer I was in trouble. When it turned over all that did was squish the top wing.”

Bogucki was buried in the event points, but he did his best to climb out of the hole on Saturday. He hustled from ninth to fourth place during a heat race before rallying from 10th to fifth place in a B Main. It was two positions shy of transferring into the main event.

“The track hadn’t widened up enough,” he said. “I tried to run around the top, but it was too good on the bottom.

“I feel like me and that place have the same thing I had with Devil’s Bowl for a long time. I’m hoping I go there one time and it just clicks like it did at Devil’s Bowl. It’s frustrating to get to the last race of the year and tear a bunch of stuff up, but sometimes that’s part of racing.”

Oct. 22 – I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark. – Qualifying: 2; Heat race: DNF (3); B Main: DNS (-).
