Inside Line Promotions – LUBBOCK, Texas (May 14, 2020) – Scott Bogucki earned his first podium finish of the season on Tuesday during the opening round of the West Texas Crude Nationals.
The SawBlade.com backed driver kicked off the two-day show at West Texas Raceway by qualifying second quickest in his group before powering from third to win a heat race. That garnered a spot into a dash.
“We had really good car speed, I could stick (the bottom). We were even better in the dash.”
Bogucki won a dash to capture the pole position for the A Main.
“I didn’t snug up enough in the feature, I didn’t expect the track to go away as much as it did. Two laps in I was in trouble. I was pulling my wing back. I ran second for a while, but I was too free.”
Bogucki led the first couple of laps before dropping to second. He eventually settled for a third-place outing, which was his best performance of the season in an event that featured 40 drivers.
“Not only 40, but 40 of the best, it was good and the next night we changed a few little things. The car felt amazing in hot laps. I feel like we’re in a good position for the rest of the year.”
Wednesday’s event finale rained out.
Bogucki said he will take this weekend off and will know more about his future plans within the next week.
